Alexandria (Alex for short) Shewczyk joins Cocoa Elite as a Triathlete Affiliate. She has found her passion for health and fitness by entering the competitive world of triathlons. We are pleased to have her become a member of our Elite Team.
Raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, Alex has always been an avid outdoor athlete even while attending Pittston Area High School.
Weekends often included bike trips with her family, swimming laps around the local pool, and running around town with boundless energy. In high school, Alex was both a competitive swimmer and track athlete.
Alex received her Bachelors in Communication from Robert Morris University. She then went on to receive her Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri- Columbia. Throughout college, Alex maintained her active lifestyle by continuing to swim, bike, and run in her spare time.
It wasn’t until 2016, when Alex discovered her passion for triathlons and as a triathlete.
She jumped head first into the sport and competed in seven triathlons in her rookie year. In that year of racing, Alex placed as the first Female Overall at the Keystone Olympic Triathlon . In 2016, the Keystone Triathlon was their inaugural season. Also she placed as the 2nd Female Overall at the Mighty Moraine Olympic Triathlon.
This year, she is taking her training to the next level. Alex hired a professional triathlon trainer to help her improve upon her natural skills. As a result of her desire to improve, Alex will be training with Matt Mauclair at Trust The Plan Coaching (TTPC).
Alex is currently preparing to race in the USA National Triathlon Age Group Event being held in Omaha, Nebraska this August.
Alex is a board member of the Pittsburgh Triathlon club. In addition, she is currently racing for the Flat Tire Triathlon Team.
For her day job, Alex works as the marketing and communications manager at Bike Pittsburgh. When she’s not training, you will find her on the golf course hitting 18 with her husband.
