Triathlete - Ironman
Raised in the Laurel Highlands, Daniel has always been an avid skier. From the early age of 15, he has been a member of the volunteer ski patrol in western Pennsylvania. While attending Slippery Rock University he obtained a degree in Geology. Throughout college he was active in running, lifting, and playing rugby.
After college his career took him to Dallas Texas. To stay fit and to help him integrate into a new city, he began running and meeting up with local running and biking groups. After a few months of running and biking, a friend, from one of the groups, suggested that he consider racing in a triathlon event.
During his first race Daniel recalls feelings of anxiety, struggling with his nerves and overwhelming excitement. However, the adrenaline and thrills instantly hooked Daniel deeper into the sport of endurance events. That first year Daniel raced as many weekends as he could.
Daniel quickly progressed from sprint distances into Olympic distance races. Quickly progressing into distances of a 70.3 Ironman and a full Ironman distance race.
In 2016, he finished his first full distance race at Ironman Maryland. Daniel has never looked back and focuses his energies on his training for the upcoming year.
Daniel is currently training and preparing to race at Ironman Lake Placid as well as Ironman Ohio 70.3 distance race.
He has also been fortunate enough to qualify for the USA Triathlon age group national championship race the previous two years.
In his spare time between his job as a geologist and training, Daniel enjoys hunting, hiking, skiing, and spending time on his paddle board.
