Jeanine McGuire

Jeanine grew up as an overly energetic and competitive kid in Pittsburgh, PA.  She played many sports, but at 14 years old, she was met with adversity when she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

Although told by many that maintaining her health and continuing sports would be improbable, it was not impossible. In college, Jeanine rappelled down rock faces, white-water rafted, and finished college as a two-sport athlete. She played soccer and participated in cross country during her college years.

Today Jeanine is an overly energetic and competitive adult. She enjoys running and cycling to their fullest.

With the Steel City Road Runners Club, Jeanine competes in events from the 5k to full marathons. With the AeroTech Designs Factory Cycling Team, Jeanine actively competes in races throughout the year. Jeanine has now fallen in love with duathlons, finishing as the 2nd overall female in her debut.

Typically, Jeanine generally finishes in the top 1 to 2% for the events she races. In fact, she is still improving her personal best times. In her last three races Jeanine finished as the 4th and 3rd overall female.  She also got her big win as 1st overall female at Just A Short Run! After her 4th place overall female finish at the Jingle Bell 5K in 2017, the Arthritis Foundation asked Jeanine to be the adult honoree of the event in 2018!

Jeanine loves competing in endurance sports.

Endurance sports embraces everything that conquering arthritis is about.  It has made her challenge her limits and go further than she ever thought possible.

When Jeanine is not competing, she enjoys spending time with her dogs. In fact, she has organized dog parties and ran dog park socials. Jeanine volunteers at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. Jeanine also enjoys bike riding with her husband. They routinely travel both outside the country and to U.S. destinations where they can indulge their love for adventure. Some of their best experiences include climbing Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, a cycling vacation in Utah where they rode to Boulder, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park, and swimming with dolphins off the coast of Kona, Hawaii.

Jeanine’s next big goal is to run a sub 20-minute 5k, so stay tuned!
