However, he wasn’t involved in a structured program until middle school. He became a member of the North Allegheny cross country and track programs in Pittsburgh, PA.  By the time Tim graduated from high school, he was a two-time state medalist in the cross-country 5k.

Tim’s high school coach once told him “His endurance was one of his strengths and  he was a natural talent“. Furthermore, he told Tim that “One day he would make a good marathoner.”

With encouragement from his coach, Tim continued his running career while studying civil engineering at Penn State University. Tim joined the university’s Cross Country Club during his freshman year, eventually becoming team captain and treasurer.

Tim was surrounded by teammates who wanted to continue competitive running in college without joining the school’s varsity program.  His club team competed in the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA), and Tim achieved All-American awards for his times in the 5k, 8k, and Half Marathon.

Following graduation from Penn State in 2016, Tim continues to pursue his running passion.  To date, Tim has run four competitive marathons, including races in Pittsburgh, Boston, and Eugene. Tim has plans to run the Chicago Marathon this fall.

Tim also enjoys incorporating half-marathon distance events into his training schedule.  He has raced this distance roughly ten times date, including in Philadelphia, Bloomington, and Heilbronn, Germany.

Tim resides in Pittsburgh, PA where he works as a project engineer for a general contracting company.  It can be tough to reach Tim during lunch time at work because he’s usually out exploring the city on a run.

He also plays violin in an indie folk band.
