David Wirth

Triathlete

David got his athletic start in high school in Baltimore, MD, captaining varsity track and cross country teams to regional and county titles. He received honors from the United States Marine Corps as the top Scholar Athlete in his school district.

David is an elite amateur runner and triathlete. He has completed numerous sprint triathlons, a 4-time Boston marathon qualifier and a four time Ironman, including competing at the World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

Balancing his full-time job as an engineering project manager, David assists as an adviser to the University of Pittsburgh’s Panther Triathlon Club. He also volunteers as a marathon pacer (Follow him @Pacer_Dave).  He also started a small training and nutrition coaching service.

DW-005On top of all that, David is hungry to get back to Kona. His goal is to improve his Ironman PR of 9:36, by going sub 9 to re-qualify at both the Ironman European Championships and Ironman North Carolina.

A strong runner and lover of “come from behind victories”, David’s mantra every time he gets off the bike in T2 is “Time to go to work!

It is clear that David will make his mark in the athletic community, if not by his own accomplishment, but by helping others achieve theirs.

His drive and passion made it an easy decisions to add him to the COCOA ELITE team of ambassadors.
