Tony Migliozzi was the 2015 50k World Champion Runner.
He repeated this amazing accomplishment in 2016 to once again become the reining 50k World Champion.
But you’d never know from talking to him. He is humble about this achievement and equally proud of his contribution in the USA 2nd place finish. Tony loves to run and it truly shows. He has logged over 40,000 miles of running by the age of 26.
Tony’s high school running coach Matt Reneker recognized his raw talent and convinced him to compete. The results paid off, as Tony and his teammates achieved the state championship in cross country. Tony also played football as a running back and cornerback while attending high school.
During college at Malone University under the tutelage of two-time Olympic distance coach Jack Hazen, Tony was an individual All American and Malone University was two time NAIA national champion.
Some of Tony’s achievements and personal bests are:
- 5k: 14:33
- 10k: 30:08
- HM: 1:06:23
- Marathon: 2:17:27
- 50k: 2:52:09
- 11th overall in the 2014 US Marathon Championships – 2:18:32
- 15th overall in the 2015 Chicago Marathon – 2:17:44
Tony has a familiar thread if you read what has been written about him, he is a team player. Consequently, he approaches running as a team sport. From his early days of running Cross Country in High School, to his most recent achievement, running can be a team sport. You get the sense Tony is more proud of his team reaching the podium in the 50k World Championship race rather than his individual achievement of being the World Champion.
We are very proud to have Tony as part of our Elite Team.
